His commitment to staying up-to-date with medical research is evident—he emphasizes that a great doctor never stops learning. “It’s important to continue our education so we can always offer the best care,” he says. Reading medical journals and attending conferences helps him stay up-to-date with the latest advancements and innovations in modern medicine. The constant pursuit of knowledge is a demonstration of his diligence in his practice and his patients.

But beyond medical knowledge, Dr. Arenas is also known for his heart. One of the most powerful examples of his compassion was when a patient with anemia missed her appointment. Sensing something was wrong, Dr. Arenas personally went to her home to check on her—only to find she had passed out. I wouldn’t know what to do with myself if I retired.” He has given everything he has into the profession of care. And what means the most to him is when a patient thanks him and says “Wow, you actually gave me something that made me feel better,”. One can argue that the betterment of a patient's health is the sole purpose of visiting a doctor in the first place, Dr. Arenas understands this and pours all his efforts and attention into understanding the patient's needs.

And it’s not just the patients that think of him in such high regards, his staff do as well. La Puente Manager Valerie Evans has been working with Dr. Jesus Arenas for the past two years and describes him as the epitome of what a good doctor should be, kind, knowledgeable, patient, and most of all compassionate. Other staff members speak on the interactions he has with his patients saying “you can tell by the way they talk to each other he treats them like family”.

We asked the doctor to shed some of his wisdom on us and give us one piece of advice that anyone can benefit from. His answer was to eat healthy and avoid sugar. And when it comes to fruits and vegetables, stay away from juicing; as it strips fruits of essential fiber and nutrients. “God gave you teeth for a reason,” he says. General advice that we all have probably heard but it is a testament to his no-nonsense approach. There is no magic pill or secret hack to staying healthy; if you take care of your body then it will take care of you; and if you can’t then Mayflower Medical Group will take care of the rest.
